Stuff You'll Need Eventually

OK, so you have a really solid base to work on that is 100% free (unless you decide to buy Jennifer's ebook).

Take some time and practice with what you've learned for free- no sense in spending money before you have to. It can take 6 or more months to really learn what goes on with this industry and find your "voice"/ connect with your readers.

You do want to eventually have a few things in place. These are:

1. Web Hosting- Hostgator will host unlimited domains for less than 10 bucks a month- you don't need to sign up right away, just when you actually need hosting. In the meantime, head over to GoDaddy for a free account. You can buy domains there, but I like the interface for managing domains. I manage there and host on Hostgator.

2. Domain Registration-Godaddy, Hostgator and NameCheap" for registration. Using Godaddy for this before you need hosting will allow you to buy a domain and redirect it to a merchant's site, removing the necessity of hosting for these sites. (If this is confusing, don't worry- you'll learn it all and it ain't rocket science).

3. Keyword ToolsI've tried lots of them. The WA kw tool provided at WA is kind of meh and there are much better options out there.

Google has their own and this is great for beginners as well as those who are more advanced.
Wordtracker is a decent tool, but does require a monthly fee (which rubs me the wrong way-I cancelled after 2 months- wanted to give it a fair try like with WA).
Micro Niche Finder is my second favorite and costs around a hundred bucks with no monthly fee.
Market Samurai is the best tool out there and also costs around a hundred bucks without any monthly fees. They also give you access to two other VERY useful pieces of software for the grand total of jack and squat. That and the fact that Market Samurai updates for free for life and their frequent updates install quickly and don't need a restart. If I could only have one kw tool, it would be Market Samurai, it's just that good and gives you an edge not offered anywhere else. Can you tell I really, really like Market Samurai?

Don't worry, these are not going to break the bank. You can do this on the cheap.

  1. Thanks for the sound advice. I only wish I would have read this before I got web hosting. I purchased the baby plan at hostgator sept 21 and haven't written a blog yet. I started off with an idea, then saw that my niche wasn't as unique as I thought it was. Iv'e since had one idea after another, and when search on the internet, it's been done and they look so professional. I going back to my original plan since I am experiencing it now. It's on the judicial system mainly the courts. Now tring to decide if I should just blog on blogger a while and drop the web hosting for now. Any advice would help. Thanks again
