Stuff You'll Need Eventually

OK, so you have a really solid base to work on that is 100% free (unless you decide to buy Jennifer's ebook).

Take some time and practice with what you've learned for free- no sense in spending money before you have to. It can take 6 or more months to really learn what goes on with this industry and find your "voice"/ connect with your readers.

You do want to eventually have a few things in place. These are:

1. Web Hosting- Hostgator will host unlimited domains for less than 10 bucks a month- you don't need to sign up right away, just when you actually need hosting. In the meantime, head over to GoDaddy for a free account. You can buy domains there, but I like the interface for managing domains. I manage there and host on Hostgator.

2. Domain Registration-Godaddy, Hostgator and NameCheap" for registration. Using Godaddy for this before you need hosting will allow you to buy a domain and redirect it to a merchant's site, removing the necessity of hosting for these sites. (If this is confusing, don't worry- you'll learn it all and it ain't rocket science).

3. Keyword ToolsI've tried lots of them. The WA kw tool provided at WA is kind of meh and there are much better options out there.

Google has their own and this is great for beginners as well as those who are more advanced.
Wordtracker is a decent tool, but does require a monthly fee (which rubs me the wrong way-I cancelled after 2 months- wanted to give it a fair try like with WA).
Micro Niche Finder is my second favorite and costs around a hundred bucks with no monthly fee.
Market Samurai is the best tool out there and also costs around a hundred bucks without any monthly fees. They also give you access to two other VERY useful pieces of software for the grand total of jack and squat. That and the fact that Market Samurai updates for free for life and their frequent updates install quickly and don't need a restart. If I could only have one kw tool, it would be Market Samurai, it's just that good and gives you an edge not offered anywhere else. Can you tell I really, really like Market Samurai?

Don't worry, these are not going to break the bank. You can do this on the cheap.
You can get started for free, learn and then buy. This should make you feel confident.

You ARE going to have to work your behind off. This shouldn't scare you: anything worth having is worth working hard for.

Travis and Jennifer have lots of blog posts and videos for you to learn from, not to mention their email mailings which provide valuable insight.. If you're worried about spam, don't be. They don't sign you up for anything but their tips, and they don't sell your email to anyone else. And they let you easily cancel the emails if you don't like them.

What I want you to take away from this is that you aren't alone- the ABestWeb Forums are great for getting help when you hit a bump in the road.

Good luck to you!
I Hope This Is Helpful To You

It can be tough to start something new. I'm lucky to have had experience with starting, running, buying and selling websites for most of the last decade. But if you're brand new or not technically inclined please know that you can do this too. You're not alone.

You CAN Do This!

You really can. It's not effortless, and will have you pulling your hair out from time to time (just look at my profile pic), but you will know how to do something few people know how to do. Then you just need to work until you know how to do it well.

Affiliate Marketing Success Strategy

The Start

OK, there's so much you can do for free with this that it's really the only business I've eve come across you can start without much capital to begin with.

This is not to say that you won't spend money on this at all, you will eventually, but this money will be your employee: it will be working for you.

Here's the way to start this, with all the detritus removed so you don't have to sift through it like I did:

1. Start with Travis Sago's Website- this is free, and well worth your time.

2. Join the Abestweb Forums and Get Help Without Paying (like at WA)

3. Jennifer's Site- this is an ebook you can buy. She offers a free 18 page preview of the ebook just for signing up for her (very useful) emails. You don't have to buy from her to succeed, but you may want to eventually. In the meantime, you can get a lot for free from Her
Pot Pie Girl Website
. Be sure to read her new "DAM Way" explanation which is great for a quick explanation of how it all can work.

If you've spent much time researching this industry, you've probably come across sites like WA. Both Travis and Jennifer recommend WA, but you don't need to join with the other free resources.

Looking For A Better Way To Learn Affiliate Marketing?

There are many ways to learn affiliate marketing that don't cost you forty dollars a month on a rebill. Having basic information all in one place is a great idea, but you don't have to pay for it. Later on, I'll list the best, most effective and inexpensive places to learn affiliate marketing, but let's begin with what happened with me.

I joined Wealthy Affiliate to further my knowledge base with regard to affiliate marketing. I've had web based businesses in the past and had been itching to try my hand at this. A Google search brought me to the Wealthy Affiliate University homepage.

The video is great advertising, appealing to many of the wants and frustrations that marketers typically experience. We could learn a lot from Kyle and Carson's (the founders of WA) marketing of their own site. Promises abound ranging from a great forum and one on one help from the owners.

These promises are not fully met in the case of forums, as they're not much to write home about. With regard to help, this is false advertising, at least in my own experience. Repeated requests for help were met with half hearted (and half something-else) answers that didn't address all of my questions and didn't answer any one of them fully. Maybe they're busy, yadda, yadda, yadda, but if it ain't available, don't advertise it.

Also, 40 bucks a month is outright silly and the cost is supposed to go up real soon. Sure, they include web hosting and all that, but I can get unlimited hosting for unlimited domains for a fraction of that. Also, this is a rebill, which means they charge you automatically each month. Instructions are not easily found for cancellation of the service, which was a major reason for me spending more than a month on the site.

Here's the goods

Here's what my experience has shown me to be the most economical way of learning affiliate marketing- and it will cost you a total of jack.

1. Begin with Travis Sago's Bum Marketing lessons (which are free)

2. Sign up for the Abestweb forums, where you will get all the help you could ask for a plenty of free resources and tutorials to get you started. Membership is free and you'll find that the forums are full of knowledgeable and helpful people that will welcome you into the fold with open arms.

Take that WA money and save it for some other things you'll want to have once you get the hang of the basics.
